Addressing Racism and Discrimination

Addressing racism and discrimination is a central part of our mission to provide education and learning for African women in the diaspora. Many of these women face systemic racism and discrimination in various aspects of their lives, including the workplace, educational institutions, and broader society. By confronting these issues head-on, we aim to equip African women with the tools to navigate and challenge these forms of oppression. Our programmes focus on raising awareness, building resilience, and empowering individuals to advocate for themselves and others in the face of injustice.

We offer a safe and supportive environment where African women can openly discuss their experiences with racism and discrimination. Through workshops, dialogues, and mentoring, we create spaces for women to share their stories, learn from one another, and develop strategies to combat bias and prejudice. Our approach combines both practical and emotional support, offering guidance on how to deal with discrimination in professional and social settings while fostering a sense of solidarity and community. We emphasise the importance of knowing one’s rights, developing self-advocacy skills, and cultivating a strong, confident identity.

In addition to addressing individual experiences, we also focus on systemic change. By educating African women in the diaspora about the historical and social contexts of racism, we empower them to be agents of change in their communities and beyond. We encourage collective action, advocacy, and leadership, helping women challenge discriminatory systems and policies. Ultimately, by addressing racism and discrimination in our educational programmes, we aim to create a more equitable society where African women can thrive, free from the constraints of prejudice and inequality.
